Description

The 1st ESS Innovation Challenge

16th August 2018

Örtofta Castle, Skåne, Sweden

Do you have an inventive mind? If your answer is yes, you probably have many ideas that could have impact outside ESS. We would like to explore your suggestions and show you how ESS could help you to develop your ideas further and take them to market. The 1st ESS Innovation Challenge is a unique opportunity to raise awareness about your novel proposals (which could be submitted with registration here (link)) and present them to prospective funders.

The commitment to innovation is anchored in the ESS Statutes and the ESS Vision and Mission statement. Bearing this in mind, we will introduce you to the new ESS innovation framework in an interactive way. In the stimulating environment of the Örtofta Castle, we will jointly explore how to articulate a compelling customer and/or business value proposition to ensure a buy-in for your idea. We will also explain to you each step along the innovation path and go through the process of transforming your idea to a practical solution that can be presented to prospective funders, and later marketed. We will use authentic ESS ideas and also your own ideas to practice the steps along the ESS innovation process in small teams. The concepts you will be introduced  during the day will be useful for developing your personal skills beyond technology transfer.

At the end of the day, each team will present their business case in front of an expert panel which will provide feedback and vote on the best concept. The 1st ESS Innovation Challenge brings the opportunity to showcase your own ideas, develop them into market-oriented solutions, and present them to an audience which will include representatives of public and private funding agencies.

The event is organised within the framework of the Horizon 2020 project BrightnESS, and will focus on the practical aspects of the establishment and maintenance of the ESS innovation framework and its ecosystem. The main partners for the organisation are the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), HEPTech and ESP Central.

This project has has received funding from the European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020 under grant agreement No 676548.
