2:nd Open Collaboration Meeting on Superconducting Linacs for High Power Proton Beams (SLHiPP-2)

It is recommended to BOOK TICKETS EARLY, due to the long bank holiday just before the conference. The Sicilian families will most probably return home at the same dates and flights may fill up early. Please also ALLOW EXTRA TIME for possible delay. The volcano Etna has been very active this year, and if there will be an eruption these days your flight will be redirected to Palermo and your total delay may be up to 5 hours. VISA AND INVITATION LETTER We have sometimes experienced delay with visa applications, so for those of you who need to get a visa we do not recommend you to wait too long with this. For those of you who need a letter of invitation, please contact Dr Santo Gammino at INFN, gammino@lns.infn.it REGISTRATION AND FEE Please register before the 15th of April by filling in the Registration form which you find in the column on the left hand side of this page. The cost for the conference is 100 EUR and can be payed in advance to the travel agency Shougun, or upon arrival to the conference. RECEPTION AND REGISTRATION IN CATANIA, WEDNESDAY 2:nd OF MAY, EVENING There will be a reception at the Una hotel Palace on Wednesday evening 2nd of May from 7 pm (until approx 9 pm). You will meet other participants over a cocktail and you will be able to get your file with documents and your badge. For those of you who have not yet payed, this will be possible to do here. If you will not make it to the reception registration will also be possible to do upon arrival to INFN, during the first break. ACCOMMODATION The due date for hotel bookings has past, but you can still send a mail to the travel agency Shougun in Catania, to let them look for hotel rooms. E-mail address to Salvatore Prestifilippo at Shougun is: s.prestifilippo@shougun.it We have also been able to book a number of rooms at the GUESTHOUSE of INFN. For these rooms there will be no charge. The guesthouse is newly built. If you would like to book one of these rooms, please send a mail to me directly: caroline.prabert@esss.se There are still a few available rooms left. TAXI or LOCAL BUS from the airport The airport in Catania is just a short ride from the city centre. You can either take a taxi right outside the airport or local bus No 457 from the airport to the bus station (10 mins) or Piazza Stesicoro (20 mins). The price should be around 25-30 Euros for the taxi, but only 1 Euro for the bus. You have to buy the bus tickets in the small blue ticket stand on the right hand side of the book shop at the airport. It's easy to find. On the way back to the airport you buy bus tickets in the "La Sicilia" news paper and tabacco stand which you find both at Piazza Stesicoro and other places. The bus station, next to McDonalds is closer if you stay at a hotel close to il Duomo. TRANSPORT (chartered bus) to INFN and dinner There will be buses leaving from Piazza Stesicoro, left hand side from the amphi theatre, to bring us all to INFN. Caroline Prabert and Mr Romeo from the travel agency Shougun will be there with signs. Thursday 3 May at 8 am Friday 4 May at 8 am Friday 4 May after the conference there will also be a bus taking us back to the city center. The buses will be available from 15 mins before departure. Departure time is fixed, so please be there on time. There will also be a chartered bus picking us up at INFN in the evening to bring us to Gambino Vini. On the way back the bus will bring us back to Piazza Stesicoro, passing INFN for those of you who stay at the Guesthouse. Piazza Stesicoro is within walking distance from all the hotels. 2-10 mins walk. If you have questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
