Description
We investigate the action of static and time dependent ring currents in small magnetic nanoclusters described by the Periodic Anderson Model Hamiltonian. Explicitly, we show how steady-state ring currents (induced by a magnetic field perpendicular to the ring plane) modify the magnetic phase diagram of such nanoclusters, and how fast magnetic pulses affect the system magnetization. We
also illustrate how the current can be modulated via optimal control theory and thus drive the systems across different magnetic regimes. Our results offer clear evidence that the application of ring currents to nanorings gives interesting possibilities for tailoring the magnetic ground state and non-equilibrium response in clusters with competing Kondo and RKKY interactions.
