The IKON meetings are a regular forum centered around the design and construction of the ESS neutron instruments and their associated support facilities. By bringing together current and future partners, the meetings aim to provide an overview on the various activities and fertilise exchange that is vital to our success. Scientists from ESS member countries currently not engaged in in-kind activities but interested in joining are encouraged to participate.
IKON16 will be a collaboration meeting for building the ESS Neutron Scattering Systems. The meeting will start on Monday, after lunch with a plenary session at AF Borgen. More details will be given shortly. IKON16 will end Thursday afternoon.
17.00 - 17.30 Short update on Installation planning & TG4 - Antonio Bianchi
This is an opportunity to see the prototype system for installing sample-environment equipment on floor mounted instruments (relevant for DREAM, MAGIC, ODIN, BEER, BIFROST, LOKI, SKADI, ESTIA, and FREIA)
You input on physical size/ distances, installation interface etc. is very welcome.
We also aim to demonstrate the concept of offline alignment and some features of the 2-camera metrology system we have developed.
If you are interested in joining the tour, please make sure to register in advance!

We will give an update of the current status of Motion Control for Instruments at ESS. This will include the whole vertical slice from the standardized motion hardware over EPICS to the user interface of the DMSC. Results are presented from the last Motion Control Workshop, the first TwinCAT collaboration meeting, latest integration effort at Utgard and first installations and test runs at the V20 beamline in Berlin.
Participants are welcome to get help with the draft TAs, ask questions, and get support.
In this session we will present the results from the 2nd Grounding implementation Workshop held in Lund in December last year. It focused on the electrical aspects of grounding, electrical design rules, safety aspects and consequences on the power distribution installation.

In this session we will present our ideas of how to handle motion safety on ESS instruments once - as an outcome of the Instrument hazard analysis - a necessary mitigation calls for a technical solution. It will focus on the design strategies to develop these solutions and the safety interfaces the standardised motion controller will offer. As such the talk is based on a presentation and the discussions on the 4th Motion Control Workshop last November. After the talk we will have enough time for a detailed discussion.
